European boats like Beneteau, even if built in N Carolina, use metric dimensions and have 25 mm stanchions. Sometimes, the horizontal rails in a bow or stern pulpit are 7/8 inch diameter but very few of this size have been sold. If in doubt go to the bigger size as your can always build up the diameter of the stanchions with duct or rigging tape.
